IMPORTANT INFORMATION FOR THIS LOCATION: Excluded from the insurance is the use of the vehicle for the transport of dangerous goods. All insurance cover as part of the rental contract will become void, in particular, if an unauthorized driver has used the vehicle or if the driver of the vehicle does not possess the required driver's licence at the time of the event giving rise to claim.
Any use of the vehicle in a dangerous manner or illegal purpose or when it is damaged or unsafe is prohibited.
Local taxes and fees may be applied on the extra services or equipment (babyseats, add. drivers, GPS, etc.) by our car rental partner locally. The price of the extra services or equipment EconomyCarRentals offers is the price without any local taxes or fees.
Our car rental partner may apply a credit card surcharge for all transactions made by credit card locally. More information will be written on your voucher. This fee is common in Australia.
In case you wish to travel, from June to October, above the snow line (i.e. entrance to the National Parks or on any road where snow or ice is present), you must purchase Snow Cover from our local partner.
Driving Restrictions : Vehicles rented in Queensland, New South Wales, Victoria, South Australia and Tasmania are only to be driven in any of those states and the Australian Capital Territory. Vehicles rented in Northern Territory and Western Australia are only to be driven in any of those states. Queensland: It is prohibited to drive in a westerly direction beyond Chillagoe and George Town.
Travelling to Cooktown is permitted only via the inland road (Peninsula Development Road / Cooktown Development Road). Travelling along the Cape Tribulation ‘Bloomfield' Road Coastal route between Cape Tribulation and Cooktown is not permitted.
Vehicles may not be taken to Fraser Island, Jim Jim or Twin Falls, Mereenie Loop Road, Gibb River Road, the Tunnel Creek Road, the Windjana Gorge Road, on the Burke Development Road , on unsealed roads north and west of Mount Isa , on the Savannah Way, the Simpson Desert, on the Warburton Route, on tracks to Lost City (Litchfield NP), Lennard River Gorge Road, the Cape Leveque Road and to the Bungles Bungles. No vehicle may be driven north from the Oodnadatta Track (including Dalhousie Springs, Mount Dare, Witjira National Park, Pedirka Desert). 2WD & 4WD vehicles cannot be driven on unsealed roads, except roads under repair and direct access roads to National Parks, State Parks or holiday accomodation. 4WD vehicles may be taken on unsealed roads, but can only be driven on recognised roads or tracks. 2WD vehicles are not to be driven on unsealed roads on Kangaroo Island. In Tasmania no vehicles are allowed to drive on unsealed roads. Failure to comply will result with the renter accepting full responsibility for all damage.
Vehicles rented in the Northern Territory may not be driven to Mitchell Plateau and Kalumburu, Central Arnhem Road to Gove beyond Bulman, Cable Beach, Tanami Track, Gunbarrell Highway, Plenty/Donahue Highway, Canning Stock Route, Oodnadatta Track, Strzelecki Track, Birdsville Track, the Gulf Track, Cape York Peninsular.
- Aboriginal Permit Land – any entry to Aboriginal Land without a permit is illegal. Access to any land requiring a permit for entry is denied without our local car rental partner's approval and entry permit must be provided prior to entry to such lands. Collision Damage Cover is not valid in the event of an unauthorised entry into Aboriginal Land or breach of permit regulations.
Night driving is not allowed in Northern Territory, Kimberley, Exmouth and Kangaroo Island. This is a road safety issue. If an accident occurs in these areas, between dusk and dawn the renter is responsible for all damage irrespective of the circumstances.
Any travel outside of the permitted areas is strictly prohibited and will void all insurance cover.
Payments : The following credit cards are accepted: AMEX, Diner's, VISA, Master / Eurocard. Debit cards or cash payments are not allowed.
A valid credit card in the name of the main driver must be presented as guarantee for the rental. Our local car rental partner may reserve an amount of 1650 - 3300 AUD (depending on your selected car group) as guarantee, which will be released after the end of the rental period if no damage/theft has occured.
Please note that all local payments will be made in Australian Dollars.
Driver requirements : Minimum age of driver is 21 years, although a mandatory underage driver insurance may be required. In most destinations, if applicable, the underage driver surcharge for the main driver is included in the car rental price, unless it is shown in the available extras' webpage along with its equivalent age limits. Any underage driver surcharge for the additional drivers will be paid locally to our car rental partner.
Maximum age of the driver is 80 years.
Driver's licence: driver must have held a valid driver's licence for at least two years.
International customers also need an international driving licence; or a driving licence and a valid passport.
Items and Services included in the rates : - Additional drivers (if shown in the extras that they are free, during the booking procedure).
- Unlimited mileage.
- VAT.
- Any One-Way fees, if applicable.
- Any Out Of Hours and Delivery (to hotels, etc.) fees, if applicable.
- ASC: Airport Service Charge where applicable.
- 24 hour roadside assistance in case of accident / damage to the car.
- Delivery and drop off at airports & rental stations during normal working hours.
Insurances included in the rates : - Third party bodily injuries per accident. The amount of liability coverage varies by state and territory.
- Third party property damages per accident (excluding rented car), up to 20000000 AUD, with excess of up to 3300 AUD (not refundable from EconomyCarRentals).
- CDW (Collision Damage Waiver).
- FDW (Full Damage Waiver) refundable from EconomyCarRentals.
- Theft insurance (of ALL the car) with no excess refundable from EconomyCarRentals.
Optional Insurances : At this destination, for theft / damages caused by you, the car rental company might charge you up to the excess amount: 1650 - 3300 AUD, depending on your selected car group.
You might be offered extra insurances to cover the excess amount. It is not necessary to purchase such extra insurances, as EconomyCarRentals will refund the charges for theft / damage excess. For your convenience you may, of course, choose to purchase extra insurances locally, to avoid any excess payments to the car rental company at your destination.
Insurances purchased locally are not refundable from EconomyCarRentals.
In order to refund any excess, we need you to strictly follow the instructions below : You have to inform the car rental company. In case of theft or damage or an accident with somebody else, you have to contact the police and take a written report. When you return the car, you also have to make a theft or/and a damage report with the car rental company.
To get back the excess, you have to send the following documents to EconomyCarRentals by post:
Theft / damage report and police report. Vehicle must never be removed from the place of accident until the police report has been completed.
In case of any accident to the car, you must immediately contact the nearest police station and make an accident report. If you do not report it to the police and comply with the requirements under the country's law, the insurance becomes invalid. The report should state if there was any influence of alcohol or drugs. It is essential that you also report any accident or damage to the Car Rental Company.
In case of other damages to the rented car, the above procedure should also be followed. If the vehicle is damaged while parked, you have to report the damage to the police and to the car rental company before the car is moved.
Copy of the rental agreement / contract.
Receipts of payment, to prove how much you have paid, and your credit card statement where we can see the amount that was taken from your credit card.
EconomyCarRentals will not refund the excess, should any of the above documents be missing or should the terms and conditions of our website not be followed. In the event of an accident involving a third party, you may be liable to pay for the damage made to the third party (i.e. motor vehicle, wall, fence, etc.) up to the amount of 3300 AUD. EconomyCarRentals does not offer reimbursement for such charges.
Exceptions / exclusions to the All Inclusive Insurance : Charges for any of the damages written below will be charged directly to the client, the most important of which are the following: Antenna, trays, clutch and gearbox, damage to car lock, door handle, door sill, loss or damage to keys, windshield wipers, glass, mirrors, wheels, tyres, interior of the car, spare key and car jack, hubcap, lights, gas cap, warning triangles, damage to upholstery of a car, damages to the roof, damages caused by roof rack and any luggage on it, damage caused by vehicle rollover or when driving in reverse, damages caused due to collision with an animal (kangaroo, wallaby, etc.), extreme dirtiness in a car, underside damage, personal belongings in a rented car, damage due to negligence, tyre punctures and burst tyres, water submersion or salt-water damage, hail damage, fuel errors, damage to child seats and baby seats, lack of electricity because of forgotten turned on electrical devices, damage or loss of car documents, damage or loss of registration plate, damage or theft of car logo. The car rental company, in any case, is not obligated to replace a flat tyre or damages in music devices (radio, CD/mp3 player, etc.).
Towing costs are not covered by any insurance.
EconomyCarRentals will not refund any telephone, taxi or hotel costs.
EconomyCarRentals or the car rental company will not be held responsible for anyone driving under the influence of alcohol/drugs, causing willful damage, off road driving, driving without care and attention or damages caused by negligence. Economy Car Rentals do not provide coverage for damages made on unsealed roads. Driving the rental car on glacier is forbidden. Vehicle must not be operated in any race, speed test, rally or contest.
The client will accept direct responsibility in respect of such claims.
Any unnoticed accident or damage to the vehicle may be interpreted as negligence. This may result in a charge to the client. The local car rental company may offer extra insurances to cover some of the above exclusions. Local laws govern the terms and conditions of hiring vehicles and the rental contract signed on collection of the car is legally binding to the hirer.
Fuel policy : Our car rental partners have different policies regarding fuel:
The car is delivered with a full tank of petrol and you will give it back full.

National one-way rentals : When you have selected delivery location and option, you will see the available drop off locations.
