economy car rentals
General Terms of Use
About Us

EconomyCarRentals is a car hire broker and we have selected the best car hire companies around the world, and then negotiated with them the lowest possible rates.
We are checking the global car hire market daily to make sure that we offer our customers the best possible rates & services.
EconomyCarRentals is NOT a car hire company and has no desk at any airport; our local partners do.
Our online reservation system (whether order is confirmed or not) does not constitute a contract for a supply of vehicle hire services.
A contract will be signed at the time of hire start and will be governed by the laws of the country of hire.

Pricing

Please note that all online prices for car hire, optional insurances and extras, such as child seats etc., are valid ONLY for bookings made online.
In the event of an extension of the hire, any extras purchased after arrival may be charged more than the rate you might have seen on our website by the car hire company.
EconomyCarRentals is not responsible for any local (at your destination country) changes in the Value Added Tax (VAT) or Goods & Services Tax (GST). If such change occurs, our car hire partners have the right to update their prices to reflect this change.

Order Process

In order to book your car you just have to follow the easy steps from the "Book a car" webpage.
All data you give on our website are encrypted and sent to our servers, so that nobody else can access your personal information.
Please check the security certificate on our web page.
The only charges made by EconomyCarRentals will be the reservation fee of 2 Euro and an advanced payment, the down payment. These charges will be made only after your booking is confirmed by our car hire partner.
Should your booking for any reason not be confirmed, no payments will be made.
The amount of the down payment will be shown in the last step of the booking process.
This amount can finally be lower than the one you saw when you placed your order and on rare occasions it can be exceeded, as our car hire partners have different down payment policies. The total price of the booking won't change in any case as the amount of the down payment affects the balance to pay upon delivery / pick up, but not the total amount of your order.
Full payment details will be written on your confirmation voucher and receipt, which will be sent to you as soon as our car hire partner confirms your reservation request.
You have to make sure that the amount for the down payment is available on your bank account or else the advance payment may fail, resulting in a cancellation of your order.
Your confirmation voucher with details on how to meet our car hire partner and get your hired car, as well as a receipt with full payment details, will be sent to you by e-mail, normally within 72 hours after the order is made.
If for any reason none of our car hire partners can confirm your reservation, a cancellation e-mail will be sent to you with a suggestion to change one of the parameters of your order. In such case, no payments will be made.
It is essential that you provide a correct e-mail address and mobile phone number as the voucher contains all important information on how to contact our local partner and get the car at your destination.
Until the booking gets confirmed, we do not know which car hire partner will service you.
The name of the car hire company, delivery / pick up instructions, address and telephone numbers will be written on your voucher.
No refund of the reservation fee or down payment will be made due to not received/read voucher.

Last minute order

If you make an order with start date and time less than 24 hours ahead, you will be notified of your order status via e-mail and SMS.
If you have not received either an e-mail or an SMS, you have to call us on +30 2810 812012 to get pick up instructions and information about your order.
When the last-minute order is confirmed, no refund will be made if you don't finally hire the car because of not received information/voucher.
In case your order is NOT confirmed no payments will be made.

Payment method

Reservations via EconomyCarRentals are accepted only if a valid credit card, VISA or Mastercard / Eurocard, is given during the booking procedure.

Reservation fee and down payment:
When you make your booking, we will ask for a reservation fee of 2 Euro and a down payment. The reservation fee will initially be RESERVED on your account and it will be charged, in addition to the down payment, only after we receive a final confirmation of your booking from our car hire partner.
The outstanding balance has to be paid upon delivery / pick up of your hired car at your selected destination, with a credit card being in the name of a driver. Cash payment is rarely accepted.
As EconomyCarRentals' headquarters and bank associates are located in an EU country, the reservation fee and the down payment will be charged in Euro currency.
The final payment of the balance and anything purchased locally will be charged in the local currency of the country where you hire the car.
Please note that as on our website you can select your preferred currency, the rates are shown with the exchange rate of the actual day and small differences may occur on the day of pick up. Small differences might also occur due to the currency exchange policy of your credit card company or bank.
Most car hire companies require a credit card guarantee for the hire. Our car hire partner may ask for a guarantee of 100-400 Euro, depending on destination and car category. Higher amounts may also occur. For more information, please check the Local Terms And Conditions of your selected destination.

Delivery / Pick Up information

For airport pick-ups, it is essential that you inform EconomyCarRentals of your correct flight number and arrival time before the hire start date. The flight information, including timings, is the responsibility of the client only and failure to supply correct and accurate information may delay the delivery / collection of the vehicle.
For port pick ups, ferry name and arrival time must be provided. For hotel deliveries, we need the name, telephone number and address of the hotel. Please note that deliveries to hotels, ports and railway stations are on request basis and we cannot guarantee their confirmation.
If detailed pick up / drop off information is not available at the time of booking, please inform us about these details by e-mail or by phone, calling the telephone number written on your voucher, at least 3 days prior to the hire start date.
Neither EconomyCarRentals, nor our local car hire partner can be held responsible or obliged to a compensation for a failed hire, if this information is not provided in time.

Out of hours charges

In most locations, our local partners will meet flights / ferries even if they arrive outside the normal working hours. An additional charge for the "out of hours" service may apply. More information will be shown during the booking procedure.
If a flight / ferry is delayed, or for any other reason, causing the car pick-up to fall outside normal working hours, an additional charge may occur locally, where the "out of hours" service is available.

Delivery / Pick Up of the Hired Car

On the confirmation voucher, delivery / pick up details and contact information for our local partner will be written.
At the airport, our car hire partner will usually wait for you at their airport desk. In rare occasions, their representative will wait for you in the arrivals hall with your name or car hire company name on a sign, giving you the car at the airport parking or using their shuttle bus service to transfer you to their off-airport office, which would normally be no more than 5km away.
At hotels, the car will be delivered there or our car hire partner will pick you up and transfer you to their nearest hire station. A charge for delivery / pick up and/or collection may apply and, if it does, it will be shown at the last step of the booking procedure.
In case you have any problems finding the car hire company, please call the telephone number/s written on the voucher under "Contact/delivery / pick up information" part or contact EconomyCarRentals on +30 2810 812 012.
We strongly advise that you carefully check the car and have any existing scratches or damages noted down on the hire agreement before you start using the car!

Return / Drop Off of the Hired Car

Your selected drop off date, time and location will be written on your voucher. When you pick the car up, our local partner will give you detailed instructions regarding the drop off.
If you wish to change any drop off information (date, time, place, etc.) and the change is accepted by the car hire company, there might be an extra charge.

Driver 's age limits

The minimum allowed age of the driver varies from 21 to 25 years in most countries. Larger vehicle groups may require an age of at least 25-30 years. Maximum allowed age of the driver is usually 75-80 years.
In some countries, EconomyCarRentals and the local car hire partners offer the "under / over aged driver surcharge" or "young driver fee", which covers the drivers if their age falls outside of the age limits. This surcharge also applies to any additional drivers.
Detailed information can be found in the Local Terms And Conditions of your selected destination.

Driving licence

All drivers, the main and any additional, must produce a full valid driving licence in their name, held for a minimum of one day to four years, depending on the destination country and car group. If a new style British driving licence is held, both paper and card parts must be produced.
A valid passport or ID card and, at some destinations, an international driving licence has to be presented at the reception of the vehicle, in addition to the national driving licence.
Detailed information can be found in the "Local Terms And Conditions" of your selected destination.
It is the driver 's responsibility to ensure that he/she presents the appropriate documents to the car hire company at the start of the hire.
No refunds will be given for hirers not approved due to non-production of a valid driving licence or any of the other necessary documents.
Faxed or photocopied licenses will not be accepted.

Period of hire

Hire days are based on a 24-hour basis, commencing at the time shown on your voucher.
EconomyCarRentals and our car hire partners allow up to 1 hour delay in return time without charging an extra day.
The one hour grace period is only valid at the time of booking. Changes in drop off time after the hire has started will be handled by the car hire company locally.
In case of a delayed flight, etc., EconomyCarRentals and our car hire partner allow a change in delivery / pick up time of up to 1 hour, which means that the start of your hire period can be calculated 1 hour later than shown on the voucher. There will be no extra cost for this except for the "out of hours" charge which may apply.

Amendments / Changes

All amendments must be made via the Customer Login on our website. When an amendment is made, a new order is created and if it gets confirmed, you will get a new order confirmation, the original order will be cancelled and the down payment for the original order will be refunded to you. The total price of the amendment may vary; please check carefully before creating it. There is an amendment fee of 3 euro which will be charged to your credit card. It is very important that you read the new voucher as the car hire company, who will finally service you, might change.
After the hire period has started, extension of the hire can be done by contacting EconomyCarRentals.co.uk. In some cases, extensions are made directly with our local car hire partner.
In case you wish to drop the car off earlier than booked, EconomyCarRentals will not refund any amount for the unused days and nor our local car hire partner is obliged to do so; it is up to them whether they decide to refund you for any unused days. If, when you arrive at our car hire partner's office, you decide that you don't want any extras or services booked (babyseats, additional drivers, snow chains, GPS, etc.), EconomyCarRentals will not refund any amount for the unused extras / services.
In any case of the above, the reservation fee of the original order (2 Euro) will not be refunded as it will be kept for administration costs.

Cancellation of a confirmed order

All cancellations have to be made via the Customer Login on our website.
The down payment will be refunded to your bank account, only if you cancel a confirmed booking at more than 48 hours (2 full days) prior to the start of the hire period. You will incur no other costs, except for the reservation fee and those that might occur due to the currency exchange policy of your credit card company or bank.
If you cancel a confirmed booking 48 (2 full days) or less hours prior to the start of the hire period, the down payment will not be fully refunded. There is a maximum amount, though, of 50 Euro which can be kept by EconomyCarRentals to compensate the car hire company for their costs. For example, if the down payment is 45 Euro, there will be no refund, but if it is 60 Euro, a refund of 10 Euro will be made.
In any case of the above, the reservation fee of the original order (2 Euro) will not be refunded as it will be kept for administration costs.
Cancellation after the start of the hire period will be handled by the car hire company at your destination.
No refund will be made for no-show at destination (if you do not show up at our car hire partner's office to take the car), failure to produce the necessary documents or cancellation after the hire start date.
In case you wish to cancel the booking after the hire start date and time has passed, EconomyCarRentals will not refund the reservation fee or any other amount; it is entirelly up to the car hire company whether they decide to do so.
No refund will be made for last minute orders, when the order has been confirmed by the car hire company, but you fail to read the voucher in time and therefore pick the car up.
Cancellation from the local car hire company:
As EconomyCarRentals is a broker, we co-operate with famous car hire brands, but also with trustful local, family firms. We always guarantee the confirmed car to our clients, but in the rare occasion, though, that our local partner is unable to complete the hire agreement (due to bankruptcy or force majeure, etc.) EconomyCarRentals will try to confirm your booking with another local supplier. In case that no other supplier is able to confirm the booking, EconomyCarRentals shall cancel it and refund all charges made. You will be informed by e-mail or phone call about the cancellation.

Car Hire documents

When you pick your hired car up you must present your car hire voucher.
EconomyCarRentals cannot be held responsible for hirers rejected if a voucher is not presented.
You should retain your hire documents and related receipts for a minimum of 28 days after the hire end date.
In most countries, the hire agreement is written in the local language AND in English.

Car type / suitability

EconomyCarRentals is unable to guarantee a particular make, model or fuel of car, but we will make every effort to reserve a specific type of vehicle, whenever this can be possible. Therefore, reservations can only be confirmed according to vehicle categories and not according to the car model. The named cars serve ONLY as typical examples for the size, specifications and performance of a vehicle category. When a car category is named as DIESEL or automatic, though, then a diesel / automatic car is guaranteed.
Detailed information about the car type and fuel can be found at the ''available cars' webpage'' during the booking process and in the Local Terms & Conditions of your selected destination.
Providing that the specifications of the car offered by our car hire partner match the specifications of the selected car group, no refunds will be made in case the client refuses to take the car because it is not the exact same model as the example ones shown on our website.
The local car hire company reserves the right to upgrade the selected vehicle category on site to a higher car category if the booked vehicle group is not available at that time.

Fuel

Our car hire partners have different policies regarding fuel.
When you pick the car up, we strongly recommend that you check whether it uses petrol or diesel.
EconomyCarRentals does not charge for fuel. The cost of fuel is always paid locally, to our car hire partner.

Number of passengers & luggage space

Please check very carefully the car groups' specifications during the booking process, as EconomyCarRentals will not accept responsibility if the vehicle is not large enough to fit all passengers and luggage on arrival.

Provision of cars

Our car hire partner can refuse to provide a car to any customer who arrives at their office in more than 2-3 hours later than the confirmed pick up time.
Our car hire partner can refuse to provide a car to any customer who does not meet eligibility requirements or is, in their opinion, unfit to drive.
In such circumstances the agreement with EconomyCarRentals will terminate immediately. EconomyCarRentals will have no further liability to the customer and no refund will be due.

Airbags
In most locations, the cars provided by local car hire companies have at least two airbags and in some cases they also have a driver side airbag. In the Mediterranean countries some cars may not have airbags.

If you are dissatisfied in any way with the standard of your booked car, you have to contact the car hire company & EconomyCarRentals.co.uk immediately, as such cases should be handled locally with them. Failure to do so may result in any claims not being accepted or settled.
EconomyCarRentals will rarely be able to handle complaints about the hired car standard or performance and make any refunds after the hire period is over.

Liability

EconomyCarRentals assumes no liability for actual hires, which do not come about due to reasons for which the hirer is responsible.
Such reasons are, for example:
- failure to present a valid driver 's license, passport or identification card.
- failure to present a valid credit card under the name of the driver (debit cards & cash are rarely accepted).
- non-compliance with regulations concerning the minimum or maximum age of the driver.
Please note that the hire of the vehicle will be subject to the laws of the country where the hire takes place.
Local laws govern the terms and conditions of renting vehicles and the hire contract signed on collection of the car is legally binding on the hirer.
All reservations are made by EconomyCarRentals and all coupons and vouchers are issued by the company in their capacity as agents / intermediaries for the principals supplying the relevant services.

Consequential loss

EconomyCarRentals shall be responsible for losses the client suffers as a result of EconomyCarRentals breaking this agreement if the losses are a foreseeable consequence of EconomyCarRentals breaking the agreement.
EconomyCarRentals is not responsible for indirect losses which happen as a side effect of the main loss or damage and which are not foreseeable by the client and EconomyCarRentals (such as loss of profits or loss of opportunity).

Force Majeure

EconomyCarRentals shall not be responsible for either a failure to perform or a delay in performing any of its obligations under or pursuant to this booking if and in so far as performance is delayed, hindered or prevented by force majeure which expression shall mean any event beyond the reasonable control of EconomyCarRentals. In case of Force Majeure all insurances become invalid.

Special requests

Child seats:
are mandatory for children in most countries and must be ordered at the time of booking. In the rare occasion when a baby/childseat is not available for your rental, you will be notified by us and won't be charged anything for it.
Due to insurance rules you will be required to fit the child seat yourself in the car.

Taking along your own safety seats for children and babies is recommended, especially in the Mediterranean countries where the safety standards for child safety seats may differ from the standards you are used to in your own country.

Ski racks, roof racks, winter tyres, snow chains and Navigation System - GPS:
are available in some locations and must be ordered at the time of booking.
In some locations the Navigation System - GPS is subject to availability, meaning that even if you book it with EconomyCarRentals, there might not be an available one when you arrive at your destination. In such case, you will not be charged for the Navigation System - GPS by the car hire company.

Across the border hires:
are normally allowed. EconomyCarRentals "All Inclusive Insurance" provides coverage only within the country where the rental car is picked up. The "Cross Border Card", which extends the "All Inclusive Insurance" to other countries, must be ordered during the booking procedure.
Please find more information in the "Local Terms & Conditions" of your selected destination.

Ferrying the hired car:
domestic is normally allowed, but it must be requested at your destination. Any extra cost will be paid locally.
You must inform the car hire company that you will take the car on a ferry.
Please note that no insurance covers the car for damages or theft occured while on the ferry.

Additional drivers:
in most locations, one additional driver is free of charge. You will find more information in the "Local Terms & Conditions" of your selected destination and during the booking procedure.

Insurances (All inclusive)

Rates of EconomyCarRentals include:

- Third party insurance which covers third persons for bodily injuries, offered exclusively by our local car hire partners.
- Third party insurance which covers third persons for property damages, offered exclusively by our local car hire partners.
- PAI - personal accident insurance for passengers, offered in a few destinations by our local car hire partners.
Insurance coverage amounts are set by the insurance laws of the country where the car is hired and differ from country to country. More information can be found in the "Local Terms & Conditions".
- Fire insurance with NO excess is included in most locations.
- Theft insurance with NO excess is included in most locations.
- CDW (Collision Damage Waiver), with NO excess.
- FDW (Full Damage Waiver), with NO excess.
CDW and FDW mean that the car is insured towards collision damages, also those caused by the hirer . More information can be found in the "Local Terms & Conditions" of your selected destination.
In some countries you will be required to leave a deposit of the value of any insurance excess (damage or theft), which may be charged by our car hire partner, if the car is damaged/stolen during the hire and the hirer is responsible for this damage/theft.

EconomyCarRentals will fully compensate the client for any excess charged by the car hire company for damages caused by the hirer or theft, except for charges made due to the "Exceptions To An All Inclusive Insurance" mentioned below or "loss of use" charges while the rental car is being repaired. If, according to the local car hire company's judgement, the client should be charged the full amount of the damage, EconomyCarRentals will only compensate the client up to the excess amount. In case a customer has multiple (two or more) damage incidents during the hire period, only one excess coverage/compensation will be provided by EconomyCarRentals (up to maximum excess amount). Should the client be involved in an accident, where the cause was not that of the client's, the client is still responsible for the non-waiverable excess until such time as the third party recovery has been paid to the car hire company, who will then reimburse the client. Any administration management fees or location (airport, railway, etc.) fees which may be charged on the damage excess are not refundable.
In order to be refunded we need you to strictly follow the instructions below in case of an accident, damage or theft :

  • You have to inform immediately our local car hire partner.
  • You have to contact the police and take a written report, even for the smallest damage made. When you pick up your rented car, please ask for details.
  • When you return the car to the hire station, you also have to make a theft or damage report with our local car hire partner.

To get back the excess, you have to send the following documents to EconomyCarRentals by post:
  • Theft or damage report and police report.
  • Copy of the hire contract.
  • Receipts of payment, to prove what you have paid.
  • Your credit card statement where we can see the amount that was charged to your credit card.

EconomyCarRentals will not refund the excess, should any of the above documents be missing or should the requested/confirmed rental details written on the voucher, the General and Local terms & conditions of our website and the car hire agreement not be followed. Due to exchange rate fluctuations and/or bank transaction fees there could be some variance in the amount refunded compared to the amount initially charged. EconomyCarRentals does not accept any liability for variances up or down. EconomyCarRentals will not refund any amount for any charges made by our car hire partner for the unused days.
The conditions on the car hire agreement are legally binding to the hirer.

At the destinations where you have to leave an excess deposit, most of our car hire partners may offer an extra insurance to cover the excess amount.
It is not necessary to purchase an extra insurance, as EconomyCarRentals will compensate you for any excess paid, but at your convenience you can, of course, choose to purchase an extra insurance locally, to avoid any excess payments to the car hire company.
PAI (personal accident insurance) for the driver may be purchased, if it is offered locally by our car hire partners.
Our insurance does not cover damages to windows-glass, tyres and the underside of the car. At some destinations WUG (windows-underside-glass) insurance is offered, which covers damages to the above mentioned parts of the car. When offered, you will find it listed in the extras during the booking procedure.
Any extra insurance purchased locally is not refundable from EconomyCarRentals.
All hired cars are insured for a maximum number of passengers. For safety reasons this number must not be exceeded and if exceeded all insurances will be invalidated.
Also, please make sure that the car your book is big enough for your needs.

Exceptions to the All Inclusive Insurance :
Charges for any of the damages written below will be charged directly to the client, the most important of which are the following: Antenna, trays, clutch and gearbox, loss or damage to keys, damage to car lock, door handle, door sill, windshield wipers, glass, mirrors, wheels, tyres, roof, child seats and baby seats, interior of the car, spare key and car jack, hubcap, lights, gas cap, warning triangles, damage to upholstery of a car, damages caused by roof rack and any luggage on it, extreme dirtiness in a car, underside damage, personal belongings in a rented car, damage due to negligence, tyre punctures and burst tyres, water submersion or salt-water damage, hail damage, fuel errors, lack of electricity because of forgotten turned on electrical devices, damage or loss of car documents, damage or loss of registration plate, damage or theft of car logo. The car hire company, in any case, is not obligated to replace a flat tyre or damages in music devices (radio, CD/mp3 player, etc.).
Towing costs are not covered by any insurance.
EconomyCarRentals will not refund any telephone, taxi or hotel costs.
EconomyCarRentals or the car hire company cannot be held responsible for anyone driving without care and attention, under the influence of drugs or alcohol, causing willful damage, off road driving or damages caused by negligence. EconomyCarRentals do not provide coverage for damages made on unsealed roads. Driving the rental car on glacier is forbidden. Vehicle must not be operated in any race, speed test, rally or contest.
The client will accept direct responsibility in respect of such claims.
Any unnoticed accident or damage to the vehicle may be interpreted as negligence. This may result in a charge to the client.
The local car hire company may offer extra insurances to cover some of the above exclusions. Local laws govern the terms and conditions of hiring vehicles and the hire contract signed on collection of the car is legally binding to the hirer.

Accident / breakdown / theft

In case of any accident involving your hired car, you must immediately contact the nearest police station and make an accident report. The hired vehicle must never be removed from the place of accident until the car hire company has been notified and a police report has been completed. The report should state if you were driving under the influence of alcohol or drugs.
If you do not report the accident to the police and comply with the requirements under the country's law, the insurance may become invalid.
In case of other damages to the hired car, the above procedure should also be followed. If the vehicle is damaged while parked you have to report the damage to the car hire company before the car is moved.
In case of theft, it is mandatory that you immediately inform the car hire company, file a police report and then give a copy of this document to the car hire company. Car documents and keys must be handed to the car hire company.
In general, the client must IMMEDIATELY report all damages to the car hire company.
Any unnoticed accident or damage to the vehicle may be interpreted as negligence. This may result in a charge to the client.

Complaints will not be handled over the telephone, but only via e-mail communication and should be sent along with all related rental documents and receipts to info@EconomyCarRentals.co.uk .
EconomyCarRentals aims to resolve complaints within 40 days of receipt thereof. Some complaints may take longer than 40 days as the time depends on the nature of the issue and information provided.
EconomyCarRentals can only consider complaints that reach them within 40 days of the final day of hire to which the hire voucher refers.
Actions against EconomyCarRentals are restricted to the laws that occur within the jurisdiction of the Greek courts.

EconomyCarRentals will not accept any complaints or make any refunds should the General and Local Terms & Conditions of our website and the car hire agreement not be followed. The General and Local Terms & Conditions of EconomyCarRentals are subject to change without notice.
